The Ministry

Spiritual Need in Kensington

Christianity has seen a sharp decline (26%) in the UK over the last 20 years with the latest census showing that it is now a minority religion in the country, while those who marked themselves as having no religion has increased by 22%. In Liverpool, a historically catholic city, less than 2% of the population are involved in an evangelical church.

Within the neighborhood of Kensington, just 1 square mile, there are over 14,000 people, the overwhelming majority of whom do not know Jesus. It is very diverse with 62 different languages spoken at the local secondary school. Kensington is in the bottom 1% of poverty in the UK when looking at income, health, crime, and social needs. Sadly the red light district also finds itself in Kensington, and there are many areas of addiction and need.

Our family is joining the already faithful work of Hope Church Kensington and the Cornerstone Collective to spread the good news about Jesus to those living in Kensington.

"For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe."

Our Ministry Roles in Liverpool

We are joining in the mission of Hope Church Kensington to see the people of Kensington rejoicing in the living hope of Jesus. While on staff with Hope Church, we will serve in a variety of ministerial roles including preaching and teaching, discipleship, community outreach, church administration, women's ministry, work in the mom's outreach group and Hope Community Fridge on Thursdays, and assisting in the weekly Gospel Community Groups.

We will also receive further training and support on a regular basis through the Cornerstone Collective, which Hope Church is a member of.

Hope Church Kensington

We will be living and serving in the neighborhood of Kensington in Liverpool at Hope Church. In an area known for being one of the poorest communities in England, Hope Church’s vision is to see the people of Kensington rejoicing in the living hope of Jesus. Hope Church was started in April 2021 and has become a beacon of hope and support for the community. Despite facing financial challenges, the church has made significant strides in providing spiritual guidance, practical assistance, and a sense of belonging to those in need. Through various outreach programs, such as food drives, clothing donations, and educational workshops, the church has been able to positively impact the lives of many residents in the area. Additionally, the church has fostered a strong sense of community and togetherness, creating a space where people can come together to worship, find solace, and support one another in times of hardship.

Hope Church Kensington is a member of Acts 29 and affiliated to FIEC.

Cornerstone Collective

The Cornerstone Collective is a communion of churches partnered together in the gospel to advance the mission of God across Merseyside. They seek to see the Liverpool area saturated with gospel-centred churches, and exist to facilitate this happening in the region. Working together as independent churches, they mutually strengthen each other and encourage the planting of new gospel communities and new churches, alongside supporting the revitalisation of existing churches in Merseyside that are struggling.

The Collective is the organization that is sponsoring our visa and ultimately bringing us to the UK. We will be receiving training and support through their residency program. â€‹â€‹â€‹
